Spurious available & away messages every five minutes

Since installing 2.2.1 (4132), every query window I have open for a user who is away displays something like the following, every five minutes:

[1:36pm] nickname is now available.
[1:36pm] nickname is marked as away.
[1:41pm] nickname is now available.
[1:41pm] nickname is marked as away.

This continues as long as they are away. The console window shows that each pair of available/away messages is coincident with a whois on the user, apparently being performed automatically by colloquy. The console log, anonymised, looks like this:

In case it is relevant, I am connected to an Unreal3.2.7 server, via a znc bouncer.
