Cannot enter Nightstar IRC chats

Description

The hardware/OS configuration is a new Mac mini with 4 gigabytes of RAM running OS 10.5.7.

I downloaded the new build of Colloquy and allowed it to self install. Upon opening my favorite Nightstar IRC channel, I see the following in the text window.

(null)

I cannot enter any text nor can I see any dialog from any of the 30 people in the channel.

What's up with this? It was working perfectly before.
